AI visibility and SEO overlap, but measure different outcomes. SEO concerns discovery and performance in search. AI visibility concerns observed mentions, recommendations and source citations in generated answers. A good search position does not prove that your company is recommended.

## Start with the shared foundation

Make core service information accessible, accurate and useful: what you do, who you serve, what it costs, and what evidence supports your claims. Check canonical URLs, crawl access, indexability, internal links and usable mobile pages.

Google’s [AI search guidance](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/ai-features) says existing SEO fundamentals remain relevant; it does not require special AI schema or AI text files. There is no published cross-platform table assigning high or low weights to keywords, backlinks or schema. Our previous weighting table overstated what can be known and has been removed.

## Measure outcomes separately

Track search impressions, clicks and qualified inquiries alongside recorded answer observations. Google reports AI-feature traffic within Search Console’s Web performance totals; those totals are not a dedicated ChatGPT visibility report.

A brand mention is not the same as a citation. A citation is not necessarily a recommendation. Keep a record of the exact question, product, settings, market and time. Repeat questions rather than treating one answer as a stable rank. Our [measurement protocol](/methodology/ai-visibility) explains denominators and failed runs.

## What UAE businesses should prioritize

Start with a primary market and actual buyer questions. For a Dubai business, useful questions might concern service suitability, implementation responsibility, scope and local delivery. Validate those choices with sales conversations and existing inquiry data.

Language is a scoping decision. Do not assume every UAE buyer searches in Arabic or that an English-only page makes the business universally invisible. Commission localized work when supported by buyer needs and delivery capability. Avoid duplicate location pages that add no useful information.

## Allocate effort from evidence, not a fixed percentage

Fix demonstrable website problems first. Then compare baseline observations with what buyers need to evaluate you. A missing description is actionable; an unexplained absent mention is not proof of a particular technical defect.

Record what changed and the qualified demand that follows. Self-reported discovery and referral data are incomplete, so do not attribute every change to GEO. Reassess acquisition effort after a defined review period without promising a ranking deadline.

## Buyer checklist

- Confirm the primary market, language and scope.
- Separate readiness, observed answers and business outcomes.
- Ask for original evidence and repeated observations.
- Reject invented ranking weights and guaranteed citation promises.
- Keep ownership of website accounts, content and measurement records.

[AI Visibility Engine](/services/ai-visibility-engine) combines website implementation and recurring observations within agreed limits. See our [Dubai service page](/markets/dubai), [pricing](/pricing/engine) and [provider-selection guide](/guides/choosing-a-geo-company-in-dubai).
